THE COLLEGE LIBRARY

 
The College has a well equipped General Library and Departmental Libraries. The introduction of computerised automation has contributed to improve the services of the Library. Free browsing facility is provided to the students. Library is equipped with computers, internet andreprographic facility. A Library committee constituted with six Heads of Departments, the Librarian and the Principal, supervise the proper functioning of the library.
 

General Features

 
The College Library is divided into three sections viz
 
a) The Reference Library and Reading room
 
b) The General Library
 
c) Sectional Library
 
Unless otherwise notified by the Principal the library functions according to the following timings.
 
Reading room : 9.15 am to 4.30 pm
 
General Library : 9.15 am to 4.30 pm On all working days
 
All members of the teaching and non-teaching staff and all students are members of the College Library.
 

Rules and Regulations

 
  • Silence shall be strictly observed in all premises of the library. Students should not bring books, bags and other things into the stackroom
  • Students as well as the staff are requested to enter their name and signature on every visit in the visitor’s register.
  • Each degree student can borrow a maximum of 3 books at a time.
  • Reference books and periodicals are not allowed to be taken out of the library. Books which are once borrowed may be retained for a maximum of 14 days at a stretch.
  • If books are not returned on the stipulated date, fine will be levied at the rate of Re.1/- per day per book.
  • Staff and students must return all books on or before 31st March every year.
  • Students and members are expected to handle the books carefully.
  • Books which are borrowed or referred should not be damaged or defaced in anyway. Marking , Underlining, annotating, scribbling etc. on any book, journal or map belonging to the library are absolutely forbidden.
  • If books taken on loan from the library are damaged or lost by a member, he/she shall pay the cost of the book including postage etc. and /or a fine to be levied at the discretion of the Librarian, within the time fixed by him.
  • If one book of a set is damaged or lost, he/she must replace it by a new copy of the same edition. If such a copy is not available, he/she shall replace the whole set within the time fixed by the Librarian. If a member happens to recover a lost volume after having replaced it or paid the value thereof, he/she shall not be permitted to redeem the new copy or its price.
  • Members should, on borrowing books from the library, examine it and immediately report any damage found therein to the Librarian. If they fail to notice such damages, they will be held responsible for any damages detected at the time of return.
  • The Principal or Librarian has the right to call any book from any member at anytime if any emergency situation arises.
  • The Librarian may make special rules for the issued books in great demand. He may shorten the period of loan or increase the penalties for the undue delay.
  • Members of the staff may keep text books with them for a whole year and general books (10 at a time) for a period of thirty days after entering these books in their account. They should return all the books at the end of the academic year.
  • Sub lending of books is not allowed.
  • At the end of the course or period of service in the college, the member has to obtain a “No Dues” certificate from the Librarian.
The above rules are applicable to all members of the library. The Principal reserves to himself the right to amend or add to these rules at any time during the academic year.
